Where are they coming from, and where are they going?

'Interstate migration' refers to the movement of people from one U.S. state to another, representing a type of internal migration. The number of people moving between states has seen fluctuations, with an increase from 7.9 million in 2021 to 8.2 million in 2022. Factors like work, living costs, taxes, and weather play a significant role in these decisions. While interstate movement has historically been a significant part of American life, rates have generally declined. Job opportunities, cost of living differences, tax considerations, and family are common drivers of migration.

States experience population shifts and changes in economic activity, impacting state revenues and overall growth. In 2022, Florida and Texas experienced the highest net migration gains, while states like New York and California had high outbound rates.

  1. I'm not unopposed to interstate migration to Texas, but seeing where most of them are coming from, they should be allowed to vote.
That's a bit wordy for a campaign slogan...might use it anyway when I run for governor.
