Here's kinda what I do
(amongst other things).
Clients had a room in their house that was lower than the hallway adjacent to it and wanted to get rid of the step-down.
I re-framed over the existing flooring, sheathed it with 3/4" ply and installed new laminate flooring, baseboard, shoe & trim.
Came out nice. Wuddya think?
