The champagne cartoon is two fold. A monk by the name of Dom Perignon is credited with the discovery, and then later it was codified into law that only sparkling wine from the region of Champagne France could legally be call champagne.

I disagree...calling the lawyers is because of the play on words used. Champagne is really "sham pain", therefore, did they really invent it or not? Now, are they really drinking this new sparkling wine, or are they celebrating a new "loophole" they can use to get rich? Sham pain being fake injury they can use to sue people.
